Healthy Schools

Newnham Junior School has been awarded the London Healthy Schools Silver Award. This means that we, as a school, encourage and motivate children to lead a healthy lifestyle; to make healthy choices at lunchtime, to be active at and on the way to school. The benefits go beyond health. We realise that when children are healthy and happy at school, they can achieve more.

Newnham Junior School embraces a wide range of initiatives in order to achieve this:-

Healthy Eating

We ensure that children are aware of and are encouraged to make healthier choices at lunch times.

Walk to School

Throughout the year, we arrange competitions and incentives to promote walking to school as a healthy and eco-friendly choice.

Sport

We encourage children to take part in a wide range of activities before, during and after school. Every term, we offer sports clubs such as basketball, netball, tag rugby, cricket etc.

Cycling

In conjunction with TFL and Sustrans, we promote safer cycling to school. We also run a successful training programme to encourage mindfulness with regards to safety and skill.
