About Us

The school is a County Junior Co-educational Day School catering for children in the seven to eleven age group.  The Junior School was built in 1952 and is a split-level, bungalow type building, sharing a site with the Infant School, which is linked by the former school kitchen. Grassed areas, planted with shrubs and trees, surround the whole complex of buildings and at the rear of the school are two hard-surfaced areas and a playing field.  There are twelve separate classrooms, an Assembly Hall, ICT Suite, Music Room, Library, Headteacher's Office, Admin Office and  Welfare Office.  The school is well equipped with class fiction, a central reference library, resource materials and visual aids.  In 1994 the school was rebuilt.  All classrooms have been reconstructed, although the administrative block at the top of the school is still in its original state.  In January 2004 the school was again extended to provide four additional rooms.  This means that all classrooms have been purpose built and we are fortunate in having such a modern building.

We have three classes per year.  The school has recently gone through a transition from two to three forms of entry.  Each class has its own class teacher, responsible for organising the overall programme of work for the class, but there may be times when some small groups are withdrawn from classes for language, mathematics and other specialist programmes.  From time to time, the class may work with another teacher for a particular subject particularly related to workforce remodelling.  We enjoy the excellent support and interest of parents, who look for the high standards which the school has always aimed to achieve.
